How to Deal With Life When You Don't Feel Love or Feel Lack of Love

Every girl longs for, needs, and deserves to be loved. We are designed; to be loved and to give love.

Low self-esteem centers on a lack of love and feeling unappreciated. Maybe you aren't feeling loved right now...Maybe you were previously hurt by peers, friends or loved ones. It’s ok to acknowledge that.

Someone may have said or done things purposely to hurt you. Others may not even be aware that they have caused harm at all. There are also times when family members have a negative way of displaying their love for you. The hurt and lack of love you feel as a result can cause low self esteem.

Address the Hurt

Most likely, those who cause you pain hurt as well. This makes it difficult for them to show proper love to others, including you. Not being able to demonstrate love properly doesn't mean that the person doesn't love you. And by no means, does it offer up a pass for this person to continue to hurt you.


Talk about your feelings to someone you trust.

  • a friend
  • counselor
  • express yourself through journaling, music or art
  • consider family counseling


Come to grips with the fact that another person may not ever change their ways, but you can chose to forgive and more on. It’s a losing battle waiting for someone else to change their ways/attitudes first in order to feel better about yourself. No one has the right to have that type of control and power over you.

Love for You

There is someone who you can assure loves you unconditionally and beyond all measure...more than you could even begin to image. & He knows you by name!

The One who created the heavens and the stars loves YOU! Lack of love is not something you have to struggle with. Once you grasp how much you are loved by the One who matters most, be a reflection of that same love. God is love & you were made in His image.

Love yourself completely too.

Forgive those who hurt you...even those who fail at loving you. Rest in the love that is for sure.

Ephesians 3:17-19:

‘And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.’
